The Lovemakers infuse '80s-era New Wave dance-pop (a la the Human League, Berlin, and Erasure) with the sleek production sensibility of the 2000s. TIMES OF ROMANCE (2005) is packed with infectious hooks, retro-tinged keyboard-dominated grooves, and the male-female singsong vocals of guitarist Scott Blonde and bassist Lisa Light on driving numbers like the opener, "Prepare for the Fight" and the thumping funk of the bluntly titled "Shake That Ass."
