Title Note

In the mid-1940s, Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys had their own syndicated radio show for the Tiffany music company, of which Wills was part owner. The recordings of the shows, made on transcription discs, didn't have the three-minute time limit of 78s, affording the band a unique opportunity to stretch out. THE TIFFANY TRANSCRIPTIONS were originally released in individual volumes, but this box set collects 150 tracks under one roof. Over the course of this historic set, you can hear the powerhouse Playboys, including guitarist Eldon Shamblin, fiddler Tiny Moore, and steel guitarist Noel Boggs, stretching out at the peak of their powers on their distinctive blend of country, blues, and swing.
