This rollicking 2004 debut album by indie-folk duo Two Gallants is a throwback to the rough-and-tumble, hobnail country-blues of the Band and newly electric Dylan, and a heartening sign that yarn spinning, harmonica wailing, and honest singing have not been lost in the electro-clash era. Just 21 years old when they recorded this electric/acoustic set, the raspy-voiced guitarist Adam Stealin and drummerTyson Vogel come across as older and wiser than their years, but their songs bristle with all the het-up excitement of their recently vacated adolescence. This auspicious first album set the template that the pair would maintain for several more well-received releases, and spawned a cool remix E.P.
