On its debut EP for the venerable Epitaph Records, Escape the Fate offers up a five-song set of blistering "screamo" anthems. While the Las Vegas-based band's goth looks place it in a league with AFI and My Chemical Romance, Escape the Fate's sound is more aggressive than those popular groups, with a notable emphasis on throat-shredding howls and breakneck, thrash-metal drumming, as best revealed on the ominous title track and "The Guillotine."
