Title Note

Then: Totally Oldies - Classic Rock is a 16-track collection of rock songs recorded between 1967 and 1983, and is as cohesive as one could hope given music culled from such a wide window of time. That is to say, not very. Just try this segue and see how it suits you: The Zombies' "Time of the Season" to Billy Idol's "Eyes Without a Face" and then to Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade of Pale." If that makes sense to you, then you won't really mind the whiplash-causing stylistic shifts. If they had shaved off a few years on either side, however, and made it 1970 to 1978, the disc might have been good, as the there is a nice mix of tunes lifted right out of heavy AOR rotation from Grand Funk ("We're an American Band"), Foghat, ("Slow Ride"), and Mountain ("Mississippi Queen"). Nothing too groundbreaking, but if they had stuck to it and added a few more AOR staples, they could have had a solid collection instead of a confused mess. ~ Tim Sendra
