While not traditionally thought of as a jazz singer, Crosby is arguably the most influential show business legend ever. Hero to many (including Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr.), Crosby's voice is not only inimitable but beautiful in every way. His phrasing, intonation and elocution are as finely wrought as an opera singer's, yet his tone and approach to singing are more akin to the great jazz vocalists of his generation.

Crosby's voice changed (got lower) throughout his singing career. But on THAT'S JAZZ, we hear the silken baritone that thrilled radio listeners and moviegoers throughout the 1930s. He renders especially stunning vocal performances on the ballads "I Don't Stand A Ghost Of A Chance With You," and "Where The Blue Of The Night Meets The Gold Of The Day." Also included on this compilation is one of Crosby's best-known hits, "Pennies From Heaven."
