This compilation from Dutch label Remember Records collects 26 early rock & roll, rockabilly, doo wop, electric blues and R&B classics from the likes of Bill Haley & His Comets ("Rock Around the Clock"), Amos Milburn ("One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer"), LaVern Baker ("Tweedle Dee"), and Elvis Presley ("Good Rockin' Tonight"). It's an awfully huge era to sample from, but That's All Right: The Dawn of the Rock & Roll Era is at least a solid listen all the way through. Listeners looking for a gateway drug into the wild and wonderful world of late-40's and '50's popular music will be hooked, but ardent fans of the genre will already have these cuts and more in their collections. ~ James Christopher Monger
