On the live set TAKE HOME THE SWAMP, he foregoes the formless Daniel Lanois-style sonics that have plagued his recent studio outings, in favor of a return to his raw roots. His growling baritone and slinky guitar have always suggested muggy Bayou nights, and here the ageless White gets his groove back via classics like "Polk Salad Annie," "Roosevelt and Ira Lee," and "Baby Please Don't Go."
