Review

Alternative Press (p.143) - 4.5 stars out of 5 -- "Never mistaking tempo or machismo for cunning, and never afraid to crawl into a dark hole to root out bits of textural sustenance, TAAS are all teeth, from tip to tail."
Kerrang (Magazine) (p.52) - "[A]s ever the band really can't be compared to anyone but themselves. They do a great job, as always, of sounding brilliant as well as different."

Title Note

These Arms Are Snakes: Chris Common, Brian Cook, Ryan Frederiksen, Steve Snere.

Personnel: Alicia Trout (vocals); John Spalding (guitar).

Audio Mixer: Chris Common.

The 2008 release from Seattle-based outfit These Arms are Snakes continues the group's hard-hitting hybrid of classic punk and razor-edged math rock. Like 2006's EASTER, TAIL SWALLOWER AND DOVE is unremittingly intense, taking cues from Fugazi, Slint, At the Drive-In, and the screamo approach of their post-hardcore contemporaries. Yet TAIL SWALLOWER never sounds studied or formulaic. Instead, the disc offers up a batch of finely crafted tunes packed with neck-breaking musical twists and driven by relentless passion, offering solid proof that These Arms are Snakes are gaining ground as one of the better acts in their genre.
