SUPER REGGAE & SOUL HITS is a well-selected and -compiled Trojan Records set of work by lovers-rock icon Dennis Brown. From the first slinky, rocksteady groove of "Concentration," the set's opener, fans will know they're in for a treat. Brown's warm, smooth vocals are as alluring as ever, and the wealth of strong material here serves as a reminder of just how brilliant Brown was in his prime. Borrowing heavily from soul, R&B, and doo wop (note the spectacular tune "Silhouettes"), Brown may be reggae's most compelling romantic singer, and while there are plenty of Brown compilations on the market, it's hard to go wrong with this 19-track sampler.
