Title Note

A caveat: this two-CD/two-DVD box set is not a retrospective containing the original recordings from 1967 San Francisco hitmakers as the title might suggest, although the results are no less enthralling. SUMMER OF LOVE 40TH ANNIVERSARY captures a Bay Area concert extravaganza in 2007 that featured a who's-who of living San Francisco musicians from the day and long-haired luminaries still on the performing circuit (though Bob Weir and Phil Lesh were conspicuously absent). Among the stellar cast are a reunited Moby Grape, Jefferson Starship, Taj Mahal, the Charlatans, and many, many more. The DVDs provide concert footage, revealing interviews with hippie heroes like Country Joe McDonald, and lots of intimate backstage performances. A must for those for whom nostalgia provides its own groovy trip.
