SUGAR FACTORY is a soundtrack of sorts to a documentary entitled TOUCH THE SOUND about Scottish percussionist Evelyn Glennie. Recorded during its filming, SUGAR FACTORY echoes the collaboration of Glennie with British avant-gardist Fred Frith on electric guitar and marimba, metal objects and paper, organ and toy piano, and more. Serene and minimal at times, the album features melodic improvisations with the prolific Frith riffing off pieces led by Glennie's pervasive percussion.
