Sub City's Take Action!: A Punk Rock Sampler Benefiting the Foundation Fighting Blindness was issued to help promote and support the label's first travelling charity tour, as well as showcase a large amount of West Coast-inspired melodic punk. It's upbeat rancor by numbers, mostly, but there's something to the Napalm Death play Rocket From the Crypt energy of Against All Authority's "That Way" and the crushing autobiographical roots of Fifteen's offerings that carries an importance above the usual beer and mall-girl narratives of late-'90s punk revivalism. ~ Dean Carlson
