Perhaps in the U.K. there are fewer divisions between musical genres. That might explain why saxophonist (also flutist) Larry Stabbins can soar in contexts as distinctive as the cool jazz-pop of Working Week and the edgy, often free jazz of Keith Tippett. Stonephace is the collaboration between Stabbins and the DJ Krzysztof Oktalski, also known as Oktal, where they combine aspects of fiery jazz and cerebral electronica. Further, both Oktalski and Stabbins have an honest feel for classic funk and soul. It's this mixture of diverse elements that gives STONEPHACE its unique sound of inspired spontaneity in the context of engaging grooves.
