Album Description

This debut album from London-born rapper Corynne Elliot won the prestigious Mercury Prize in 2009. Distinguished by being performed entirely live on acoustic instruments including strings and woodwind, it displays both classical and old-school jazz influences. It was recorded during a sweltering Australian summer and this warmth is palpable, offsetting the sometimes painful honesty of the autobiographical lyrics she delivers in her trademark laidback flow.
