Title Note

Personnel: William Eaton (lyraharp guitar); Redhouse (vocals, cedar flute, bass); Ames (violin, violira); Tulip (silver flute); Clipman (percussion).

The William Eaton Ensemble gathered to record this two-disc set with one goal in mind: to celebrate all that is wild and deep and sprawling on earth--deserts, moonlight, meadows, rivers, sun, and wind. With no overdubs and no preexisting compositions, the ensemble sets off a two-hour improvisational conflagration that demonstrates nearly telepathic musical sympathies. Though guitarist William Eaton is the de facto leader and has proven his virtuosity on solo recordings, here his guitar is just one element of an enchanting mix that also includes flutes, pipes, bells, violin, synths, guest singer Mary Redhouse's vocal flourishes, and, most notably, Will Clipman's amazing percussion.

The first disc represents the more frenetic and unpredictable aspects of nature, and the second expresses the calm, cyclical, and transcendent attributes of Mother Earth. In an era when people are growing more and more alienated from the processes and rhythms of nature, recordings like this help listeners ease back into their natural state.
