Dean Evenson has practiced yoga for over 30 years and is a leading practitioner in the field of sound healing. SOUND YOGA is sequentially arranged to support individual practices of yoga and is part of the Music for the Healing Arts series published by Soundings. The soothing "Living Yantra," touches the listener with its thoughtful inflections. Wistful flutes cradle the shifting tones of a Chinese zither on "Eastern Sealight" thereby creating a renewed and open atmosphere. This disc features Earth Resonance Frequency (7.8 hertz tone) mixed beneath the music, supporting relaxation and meditation. It is the same frequency that the brain creates in its alpha state. "Stretching It" has meandering guitar lines that reach around orchestral string arrangements. The Soundings Ensemble under Dean Evenson's guidance emits a balanced and harmonious environment ideal for yoga or any other contemplative pursuits.
