Title Note

Personnel: Lightnin' Hopkins (vocals, guitar); Ira James (harmonica); Rusty Myers, Ozell Roberts (bass instrument); Larry McCall (drums).

Recording information: Doggett Sound, Houston, TX.

Stockholm-based label Sonet Records issued a fine series of blues albums in the early 2000s called the SONET BLUES STORY. These were mostly reissues of recordings made in the 1960s and '70s when interest in classic bluesmen was undergoing a major revival around the world. Lightnin' Hopkins was one such bluesman, a Texas legend whose deft, fluid guitar work was matched only by his skill with a soulful melody or witty narrative. The 12 tracks on Sonet's Hopkins anthology have him backed by bass, drums, and harmonica, and find the man in fine form, bolstering his status as one of the greatest country blues artists of all time.
