While the most visible wing of the early-2000s American punk scene has been marked by Warped Tour-ready pop-punk and emo acts, Texas's Riverboat Gamblers offer up a necessary dose of old-fashioned trash-punk sleaze. Singing about the glories of boozy late nights, too many cigarettes in the ash tray, and the pride of the working man, the Gamblers offer a raucous counterpoint to the heart-on-our-sleeves earnestness of many of their contemporaries.
