Title Note

Jaime Baum is a jazz flutist whose music straddles the lines between composition and freedom, and between jazz and 20th-century classical sounds. SOLACE is her Septet's second album. The ensemble includes French horn along with reeds, trumpet, piano, bass, and drums, and this rich mixture of instruments imparts a sound not unlike a mini-orchestra. SOLACE is an album of shifting, darting rhythms, poignant solos, and vibrant, dense ensemble textures--not easy listening but not self-consciously difficult either.
