Review

Alternative Press (5/00, p.86) - 3 out of 5 - "...A must for fans of laid-back West Coast gangsta funk....the real draw here is of course the Dogg....he comes across with all the confidence due the stone-cold master of his subgenre."
CMJ (2/14/00, p.24) - "...vintage West coast G-funk straight with no chaser, complete with Funkadelicized grooves blunted verbs and cameos by Jayo Felony, Bad Azz, Nate Dogg, Xzibit, Kurupt and Warren G."
The Source (3/00, pp.240-2) - 4 mics out of 5 - "...demonstrates hygenic lyricism with simple but clever hooks from start to finish....an enjoyable, funked-out, G'd-up treat - plenty spiced with gangsta-isms for the millennium."

Though Tha Eastsidaz are a debut rap group, the fact the Snoop Dogg is a member goes a long way to help make the group's introduction to the music industry a smooth affair. With the help of fellow Long Beach rapper Tray Deee and newcomer Goldie Loc, Tha Eastsidaz remain faithful to the West Coast-flavored G'd-up hip-hop that first put Snoop on the map. On SNOOP DOGG PRESENTS THA EASTSIDAZ, the three MCs trade verses of low-riding and (for lack of a better term) West-siding. Songs like "Be Thankful" and "Take It Back to '85" illustrate the trio's penchant for less typical subject matter and show impressive lyrical diversity. And guest appearances from some of the Left Coast's finest (i.e., Kurupt and Xzibit) make this effort a true reminder of what the West has in store. Throw it up.
