Review

Magnet (p.102) - "Pickerel's deep, sonorous baritone matches the melancholy material."
Mojo (Publisher) (p.114) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "Steel guitar whine, meaty Morricone twang, stark rhythms and atmospheric electronic touches propel plucky love songs..."

Title Note

Personnel: Mark Pickerel (vocals, guitars, drums, percussion); Johnny Sangster (guitar, electric bass, background vocals); Margrethe Bjorklund (pedal steel guitar, background vocals); Micah Hulscher (piano, electric organ, Moog synthesizer); Jim Sangster (electric bass).

Additional personnel: Heather Duby (vocals); Jerry Battista (nylon-string guitar, mandolin); Steve Fisk (electric piano, Mellotron, ARP synthesizer, Moog synthesizer).

Former Screaming Trees drummer Mark Pickerel reinvented himself as a front man and resurfaced in 2006 with this collection of dark tales set in a variety of desolate locations. Pickerel's voice has the shaky intensity of an unholy combination of Roy Orbison and Chris Isaak, while the ramshackle production, overseen by grunge legend Steve Fisk, provides an appropriately unsettling musical backdrop.
