In the '90s, Ken Stringfellow established himself as one half of the songwriting duo power-pop one hit wonders the Posies in addition to his solo career. His notoriety led to stints as a hired gun for big named acts such as R.E.M., Neil Young, and Big Star. Since relocating to Europe, Stringfellow has teamed up with the remaining members of the now defunct Norwegian pop band Brixeby to form the raucous, garage-influenced quartet, the Disciplines, who released a highly anticipated debut album, SMOKING KILLS, in 2009.

Issued in 2009, SMOKING KILLS is the full-length debut by the Disciplines, a group consisting of European transplant and Posies member Ken Stringfellow and a trio of Norway musicians that previously played in an ensemble called Briskeby. Offering up garage-influenced rock that ranges from the raucous "Yours For the Taking" to the thoughtful "Oslo," the album will appeal to fans of the noisier side of Stringfellow's pop-savvy aesthetic.
