At the tender age of 20, the North Carolina country crooner released her debut album, SMALL TOWN GIRL, parlaying her television popularity into a substantive musical statement. The album went gold, and Pickler found herself touring with Brad Paisley and appearing everywhere from the CMA Awards to The View, where she was she was presented with her gold record by Rosie O'Donnell.

Even though many other celebrated former contestants on the reality-TV show issued records around the same time, the North Carolina-based Pickler, with her easy-going Carrie Underwood-meets-Jessica Simpson charm, easily stood out from the pack, particularly with her carefree and slightly twangy single, "Red High Heels."
