Like the first SIX FEET UNDER soundtrack, EVERYTHINGS ENDS provides an eclectic musical backdrop for the acclaimed HBO TV series. While certain songs here are obviously appropriate for a show about a family that runs a funeral home--the Caesars' cover of the classic rock staple "(Don't Fear) the Reaper," Radiohead's morbid "Lucky"--others are surprisingly upbeat and life-affirming, particularly Nina Simone's sweeping 1965 take on "Feeling Good" and Phoenix's pop-perfect "Everything Is Everything." Indie-rock fans will be especially pleased to note the inclusion of previously unreleased tracks by Interpol and the Arcade Fire (the looming "Direction" and the delicate "Cold Wind," respectively); both songs are suitably melancholy and well placed in this well selected series-end collection.
