Title Note

EMC (rap): Stricklin, Masta Ace, Punchline, Wordsworth.

Personnel: Anthony Lucas (bass instrument); DJ Eclipse (scratches); Money Harm, Angelita Ross, Terrel Howard, Ladybug Mecca, Adanita Ross (background vocals); Torae, April Hill, Katrina Chambers, Amanda Diva, Stephen Mills, DJ Paul Nice, Marco Polo, Eternia.

Masta Ace recruits a trio of underground MCs responsible for the tightest guestwork on his DISPOSABLE ARTS and A LONG HOT SUMMER to form the supergroup E.M.C. Along with the slick lyricism (a given with this group of artists), THE SHOW comes with a simple enough concept (the crew is traveling out of town to do a show) that moves the record along nicely. This narrative thread allows the four MCs to cleverly dialogue with promoters, critics, fans, and each other, discussing their industry personas, the politics of the business, and the day-to-day trials of hip-hop artists trying to make ends meet. Every track bangs with hot production courtesy of The Are, Ayatollah, Quincy Tones, Nikolay, and Marco Polo while Sean Price, Ladybug Mecca, Money Harm, and Little Brother make up the guestlist. THE SHOW shines as one of the most intelligent and entertaining releases of 2008.
