Title Note

Miguel Depedro (Kid606) is probably best known for brain-scrambling breakcore that mixes bratty punk attitude with a healthy disrespect for music's hallowed past. While his post-rave sonic omniverse has tended toward breakneck genre pile-ups that flit from idea to idea like an ADD-addled child, Kid606's 2009 effort SHOUT AT THE DONER, takes a slightly more settled, but no less irreverent, approach to dance music styles of yore. Tackling virtually every genre of the past 20 years of electronica, Depedro allows space for the tracks to develop their every satirical whim. From the dizzying bass wobble of "Mr. Wobble's Nightmare" (a dubstep-style take on the `90s breakbeat-rave anthem "Mr. Kirk's Nightmare") to the ripping acid-disco of "Baltimorrow's Parties," SHOUT AT THE DONER celebrates the brainless exhilaration of dance music at its shameless, frivolous best.
