Title Note

The tones of the bamboo flute are ancient Japanese tools for Zen enlightenment, said to channel spiritual energies and aid in meditation, yoga, and bodywork. Though the Shakuhachi flute is now used in many musical arenas, Stan Richardson is a purist in that he uses it exclusively for Zen meditation. The brilliance of this music is its minimalism. At times, one note seems to go on infinitely, but then surprising shifts and unexpected notes reveal a subtle, hypnotic power.
