David Daniels is a countertenor, an extraordinary "alto musico" singer with a range once associated with the castrato. Reviving some of the world's most wonderful music, Daniels sings with a rich, full voice, well above the usual male range.

His selections date mainly from the mid-18th century. Early Mozart pieces begin the album with charming energy. "Ombra felice" is in fact the only concert aria Mozart ever wrote for an "alto musico" voice. Handel, working during the height of musico popularity, gives Daniels a far wider selection. Though neither 'Tolomeo' or 'Partenope' were critical successes when the operas opened, each contain beautiful arias for an artist such as Daniels.
