The Chicago-based emo-pop foursome the Audition have taken their lessons well from both Fall Out Boy and Maroon 5. Like the White Tie Affair's WALK THIS WAY, SELF-TITLED ALBUM displays an agile duplicity, straddling the smoothness of commercial dance music and the bite of distorted riffing. The band is most in focus on straight-ahead, Jimmy Eat World-worthy rockers like "Stand On Your Feet," although borderline power ballads like "It's Gonna Be Hard (When I'm Gone)" should get many lighters flaming and adolescent hearts beating.
