Annotation

Weldon Kees (1914-1955) was a writer, filmmaker, painter, and critic whose work has long been curiously overlooked. This selection of his short fiction aims to change that. Edited by poet Dana Gioia, this volume includes fiction written mostly in the Midwest, before Kees went to New York, and provides a showcase for his distinctive voice and for his subject matter--the American heartland in the 1930s.
