Title Note

Sedatif en Freqencies et Sillons takes material from the band's previously released album and remixes and reworks it. Where the previous album had slowly building trancelike material, however, Sedatif... is a mixed affair. The opening track, a remix of sorts, often seems like fragments strung together arbitrarily, with long passages resembling musique concrŠte more than the guitar-heavy instrumental post-rock style that Fly Pan Am and the other Godspeed You Black Emperor projects do so well. The middle cut is a funk groove that has sinister overtones. The closer is like a dream sequence, with Morpheus twiddling the dial to see what interesting stuff happens. As a release, it's interesting enough, though the opening track is a bit unsatisfying. Better to start with the first album and pick this up afterwards as a curiosity. ~ Sean Carruthers
