Director's Note
Aviva Slesin's heartwrenching documentary tells of the many Jewish children saved from certain death at the hands of the Nazis by non-Jewish families. Using archival footage and interviews with survivors, Slesin effectively portrays the horror of the Holocaust and the bittersweet survival of these children. Similar to films such as THEY RISKED THEIR LIVES: RESCUERS OF THE HOLOCAUST, SCHINDLER'S LIST, and INTO THE ARMS OF STRANGERS: STORIES OF THE KINDERTRANSPORT, this documentary explores the kernel of humanity that can exist even under the most difficult circumstances.
