Those who don't follow classic New Orleans rhythm & blues or rock & roll records might think of Frankie Ford -- if they do at all -- as a one-hit wonder because of his bona fide classic, "Sea Cruise." That said, those aware of Ford, and/or those who also follow the music from New Orleans, know that he had a killer career, was an innovative singer, and laid down some smackin' singles for Ace Records. This 20-cut compilation from Fuel 2000 manages to get every major cut Ford laid down and give catalog numbers to boot, with liner notes by Bill Dahl. The set isn't long on other details, but it is the music that matters, and Dahl's liners manage to lay out the essential historical info. For anyone who hasn't checked out Ford, or isn't hardcore enough to get the Bear Family comps, this is the one to snag. ~ Thom Jurek
