Soca rivals "slack" dancehall reggae and vintage "hokum" blues for great risque material. That's the theme linking the seven songs featured on this anthology. The CD includes sassy, suggestive hits from Shadow, Poser, and particularly Bally, whose "Gimme Piece" leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination. Each tune features catchy melodies and throbbing arrangements, showing soca's musical punch and hypnotic grooves. There aren't any weak links, and only limited distribution and publicity prevent soca from rivaling reggae as the prime Caribbean musical import. ~ Ron Wynn
