Guitarist Henry Frayne occupies a unique niche in instrumental pop. With a minimalist's discretion, Frayne creates translucent dream-pop atmospheres and open-hearted, major key rock hymns using acoustic and electric guitars, discreet feedback, and reverb. Ambient music fans will appreciate the way Frayne floats textures and tones over sparse percussion and allows melodies to unwind slowly, as in the narcotic "Early August" and "Sands." Pop fans will enjoy the inspiring quality of songs like "West Side Highway" and "Fields," which jangle and shimmer hopefully. "Atlantic" is a sultry slice of chilling music in which a billowing Enigma-like synthesizer hovers over slinky drum loops.
