Recorded on June 14-15, 1966 at United Recording Corporation of Nevada, Las Vegas, Nevada.

Though Sammy Davis Jr. was best known for singing to big band swing sounds (Las Vegas and New York City complemented his exuberance with their innate showbiz glamour), when given the chance he could shine just as well in other musical landscapes. In this CD he's paired with guitarist Laurindo Almeida, performing Brazilian jazz standards.

Almeida's playing is exotic and sensitive, providing a sensual backdrop for Davis' pensive moods. "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows" is softly and gently sung, appropriate to the song and contrasting with famous versions by Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland. Davis has no problems interpreting any of these songs--for instance, an easygoing familiarity with "We'll Be Together Again" makes his tender reading swing.
