Annotation

The daily life of a 10-year-old Lebanese boy named Sami, who lives in war-torn Beirut. Sami remembers what life was like during times of peace, but now must contend with constant gun fire and falling bombs. Then one day, when a cease-fire is called, Sami and his family venture forth from their basement and explore their city. Although destruction is all around them, they all see signs of their old life and hope for a time when peace will return permanently. Illustrated with watercolor paintings.
