Review

No Depression (p.95) - "S.O.S. certainly works as a tribute to soul, marking Broussard as a young classicist. It's also a good sign that his 'Come In From The Cold' is the most compelling moment on the album."

Title Note

The son of the Boogie Kings' Ted Broussard, Marc Broussard has Louisiana music history coursing through his veins. A charmingly gruff soul singer in the vein of Otis Redding (along with some of the rasp of John Hiatt), Broussard was born to do this album. S.O.S. is something of a concept album, a survey of 1960s and '70s pop-soul, Motown, and gospel-charged R&B. Broussard tips his hat to St. Marvin (Gaye), covering "Inner City Blues" and "If I Could Build My Whole Word Around You," as well as hot New Orleans sounds (local legend Allan Toussaint's "Yes We Can, Can," a hit for the Pointer Sisters). While it won't win awards for originality, S.O.S. lives up to its title, a heartfelt revival and celebration of American music.

If you dont like this guys music and this CD, you just dont like great music. He is incredible on the guitar and he sings from the soul. Hes one of the only real younger rock/blues men that can really make you feel it. Awesome!
