Although RPWL is often lumped in with the early-2000s wave of European neo-psych acts like Dungen, their fourth studio outing, THE RPWL EXPERIENCE, only tangentially touches upon psych's more progressive side, focusing instead on hooky, tight rock songs. There is a time signature switch here and there, but the German quartet reveal a more plaintive side based on acoustic fare in 4/4, as heard on "Breath In, Breath Out," a near-egregiously flattering homage to Oasis' "Wonderwall." The album also includes a cover of Dylan's "Masters of War."
