On THE ROCKY ROAD Irish folkie Damine Dempsey tackles an array of traditonal tunes with both brio and an obvious respect for the music's history. Backed by the legendary Dubliners, who lend the affair an extra dose of authenticity, Dempsey stakes his claim in the vast Celtic folk tradtion through his takes on tunes such as "The Foggy Dew" and the Pogues "A Rainy Night in Soho." The arrangements are appropriately straightfoward and Dempsey's voice rings proud and true.
