Title Note

Augustus Pablo (born Horace Swaby) is one of the most influential figures in Jamaican music. His early career as an instrumentalist elevated the lowly status of the melodica to an integral part in several key reggae releases of the `70s. Later, his distinctive innovations in dub production established the so-called "Far East" sound--with its heavy reliance on minor chords--as the de-facto roots style for many years. THE ROCKERS STORY, a comprehensive four-CD compendium, covers several of the artist's most productive years. From blissful instrumentals and plaintive roots rockers, to psychedelic dub rinses, it's collected here in all of its sublime, mystical glory.
