The Hellacopters are part of an intriguing ongoing phenomenon of high quality Swedish rock & roll bands that includes Sahara Hotnights and the Hives. The 'Copters' 2006 release, ROCK & ROLL IS DEAD, starts as it means to go on with the high-octane, post-Chuck Berry "Before the Fall" and continues with the equally vigorous "Everything's on TV," while "Bring It on Home" conjures the Stooges and "Leave It Alone" is a Faces-Stones hybrid with an irresistible 1970s-style chorus. ROCK & ROLL IS DEAD is no pastiche, however--like many '60s British bands, the Hellacopters have taken an essentially American phenomenon, restored it to its former glory, and delivered it back to its creators better than before.
