Title Note

Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Columbian Rock en Espanol pioneers Aterciopelados gained prominence in both Latin America and the international music community. After their 2006 album, OYE, received widespread popular and critical attention (as well as a Grammy award), the stakes were raised for the band. Aterciopelados met the challenge with 2008's RIO, a successful continuation of their unique blend of new wave, psych pop, and traditional Latin grooves. From the breezy sway of the title track to the nervous angles of "Gratis" to the bright bounce of "Ataque de Risa," RIO is a multi-dimensional ride that is as accessible as it is fresh.
