Title Note

Most of RIDIN' IN MY CAR was originally released as ALL HOPPED UP.

RIDIN' IN MY CAR, while not a reissue of the band's ALL HOPPED UP, encompasses nearly the whole of that album (minus two songs), plus an additional four numbers. NRBQ has never been shy about reworking and reformatting past works, and this set stands on its own, quite distinctive from its equally strong predecessor. The album is bookended with the title song (a great should-have-been-hit) presented first by the band, and then as an instrumental finale by the Windsor High School Band from a live performance in 1979. Two longtime concert favorites also appear here for the first time, the infectiously driving "Start It Over," and Roy Orbison's "Chicken Hearted." The rest of the set easily glides from dazzling and undulating rhythmic workouts to soft ballads and warm humor. This album is an excellent starting point for anyone unfamiliar with this band's output.
