Best known for their smash "Closer to Free" (which doubled as the theme song for the TV drama PARTY OF FIVE), the BoDeans returned from an eight-year hiatus on 2004's RESOLUTION. With founding co-writers Sam Llanas and Kurt Neumann at the helm (along with original bassist Bob Griffin), these stalwart roots-rockers emerge from their lengthy absence with 14 songs synonymous with the kind of character-driven fare penned by Springsteen, Mellencamp, and Seger. The dream-pop of "Slipping Into You" paints an picture of romance in New Orleans, heart-break is given a Texas Tornados-like treatment with accordion on "Wild World," and a fusion of strings and gnarly guitars highlight "Marianne." The combination of Llanas and Neumann's distinct vocals make for a delightful sweet-and-sour blend, be it on the anthemic opener "If It Makes U" or the sing-along summer ode "Said 'Hello'."
