Volume four of this popular Animé series offers more violent and compelling adventures. In the 1860s, Japan is in turmoil. Momosuke, a would-be author, is travelling the countryside in search of 100 stories with which to compose a book. On the road, he meets a trickster, a puppeteer, and a bird caller. Together, as they travel the countryside, they are witnesses to the ugliest, most base aspects of human nature. In this volume of episodes, Momosuke becomes separated from his group of friends, and ends up attacked by a band of outlaws. Lost and hurt, the violence and atrocities seem to unfurl with astounding speed.
