Although Sarah McLachlan's ethereal pop already featured the occasional techno flourish, REMIXED applies an arsenal of electronica to the Canadian singer/songwriter's tunes. Here McLachlan's "Fear" gets layered with distorted beats, while "Sweet Surrender" is given the house treatment, replete with the genre's signature keyboard-heavy backing. Club superstar BT contributes pulse-driven mixes of "I Love You" and "Hold On," and producer William Orbit offers up a moody, dynamic take on "Black." Amidst all of the tinkering, however, McLachlan's powerful voice is the consistent thread. Longtime McLachlan fans will be pleased to note that five out of the collection's nine tracks are based on songs from FUMBLING TOWARDS ECSTASY and SOLACE. Meanwhile, those seeking a club-hopper's fix of danceable rhythms will find plenty as well.
