Title Note

As one of the more restlessly inventive indie rock acts of the millennium, the Fiery Furnaces have blazed an ever-expanding musical trail across a number of fine studio albums. The double-disc set REMEMBER compiles 51 tracks that span the Furnaces' career, covering songs from each of their studio releases and representing four different personnel line-ups (siblings Matt and Eleanor Friedberger, the group's songwriting and performing core, are the only constant). The Furnaces' blissfully disorientating sound, which balances punk roots, lyrical balladry, music-hall elements, and pure psychedelia, is beautifully represented on this generous set, making it a fine introduction and a must for devotees.
