To call Univers Zero a prog-rock band would be tantamount to calling Egon Schiele a doodler. Their dark, intense music is bigger than genre definitions, existing in a paradigm all its own. This collection of mid-1980s live recordings features versions of tunes from two of their strongest albums, HEATWAVE and UZED, where moody keyboards, abstract rhythmic notions, and impressionistic violin create a mood that's closer to a plugged-in Stravinsky than to anything in the rock world. This unique view of a prime period in the band's evolution will be greeted as a godsend by their hardy cult following.
